Chinchón
Getting started
Start a new game or join one started by a fellow player. If you start a new game, you may choose who is allowed to join you at the table, what the stakes are, how many points the game will be played to (25 to 200 points) and how many players can participate (2 to 4 players).
On the right side of the board is displayed who's turn it is. Next to the player names you can view the number of points a player has already achieved in a game. You may also chat with players using the chat function.
Gameplay
Chinchón is played using a card deck of 40 Spanish cards or a French deck of 52 cards without 8s, 9s and 10s. The order of the cards is ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, jack, queen, king. At the beginning of the game, each player receives 7 cards. The remaining cards form the decreasing stack. One card is turned over and forms the discard pile.
To be able to lay down your cards, you need to create valid card combinations in your hand that you can meld. A distinction is made between sets (3 or 4 of a kind but in different suits, e.g. three 6s) and sequences (at least 3 of the same suit in a consecutive sequence, e.g. 2 of clubs, 3 of clubs, and 4 of clubs). The ace of diamonds is the joker and can replace any card. You can lay the remaining aces only as a set or at the lower end of a sequence.
You can see your own cards fanned out at the bottom of the table. If it's your turn you can draw cards either from the stack with the face up cards as well as the stack with the face down cards. Every move consists of taking a card and discarding a card.
You can rearrange your cards at any time (even when it’s not your turn). If you have a set or a sequence in your hand cards a blue bar will be displayed over the relevant cards but only if you have arranged your cards accordingly. You can lay cards (“melding”) if you have no more than 3 points in hand after placing a card on the discard pile. A Chincón is a run of 7 cards without joker.
End of the Game
When a player has laid all his/her cards his/her opponents can in turn also lay their combinations in the middle of the board.
If a player exceeds the previously agreed limit of points, then they lose the game. If you are playing against multiple players, the player who has reached the point limit is out. The last player remaining at the end of the game is declared the winner.
Hint
If your opponent has closed the game you can rearrange your cards again before laying your cards. This makes sense if you have a joker in your hand and you can reduce your final score by skillfully combining cards.
Awarding of Points
The cards that players still have in their hand after laying count as minus points and are shown as plus points. To calculate the score, face cards count as 10 points, aces one point and the score cards according to the number printed on them. If you still hold the joker (ace of diamonds) you will receive 25 minus points.
The player who closes the game and lays all 7 cards without discarding a card on the discard pile receives 10 minus points. If a player lays a Chinchón (7 cards in a sequence) he receives 25 minus points.
